A 530 error is a Cloudflare status code that is accompanied by a secondary 1XXX error code (most commonly Error 1016: Origin DNS Error).
It indicates that Cloudflare received a request for a proxied domain, but is unable to route it to an origin server because DNS resolution for the origin server failed.
Determining why
- The website’s CNAME record points to an external hostname that cannot be resolved in public DNS.
- The domain or hosting account was suspended or deleted at the origin host.
- DNS configuration changes made at your registrar broke origin connectivity.
Steps you could possibly take:
If you are a visitor:
- The website owner needs to update their DNS records. Reloading will not resolve the issue.
If you are the website owner:
- Check the secondary error code displayed on the error page (usually Error 1016).
- Log into the Cloudflare dashboard and check your DNS records. Ensure your CNAME or A records point to active, resolvable hostnames.
- Verify that your hosting account has not been suspended for non-payment or expired domain registration.
