A Cloudflare Error 1011 indicates that access to an image or media asset was blocked because Cloudflare’s Hotlink Protection feature is preventing third-party websites from embedding the file.
Common causes
A request was made for an image or media asset that has Cloudflare Hotlink Protection enabled, and the HTTP Referer header indicates that the image is being embedded on an external, unauthorized third-party website.
Hotlink protection prevents other websites from leeching bandwidth by directly embedding images hosted on someone else’s server.
Resolution
If you are a visitor
- View the image directly on the original hosting website rather than viewing it embedded on an outside site.
If you are the website owner
- In your Cloudflare dashboard, navigate to Scrape Shield.
- Review the Hotlink Protection toggle. If you want external sites to be able to embed your images, disable Hotlink Protection or create allowed domain rules.
