A Cloudflare Error 1000 indicates that an address record in your Cloudflare DNS settings points directly to one of Cloudflare’s own proxy IP addresses or a reserved IP address, causing an infinite routing loop.
Common causes
An A or CNAME record within your Cloudflare DNS app points to one of Cloudflare’s own proxy IP addresses or a reserved IP address instead of your true origin web server IP address.
When Cloudflare attempts to proxy traffic, it would end up forwarding requests in an infinite loop back into its own edge network.
Resolution
If you are not the website owner
Notify the website administrator that their domain has an Error 1000 configuration issue in Cloudflare.
If you are the website owner
- Log into your Cloudflare dashboard and navigate to the DNS app.
- Locate the
AorAAAArecord for the domain or subdomain receiving Error 1000. - Update the IP address to point to your origin web server’s true IP address (provided by your hosting provider), rather than a Cloudflare IP.
